Beauty Tips for Festival-Goers

Summer is the time for heading off to festivals, enjoying the great outdoors, live music and living in a field for a few days. Whilst festivals are an important part of the social summer calendar, they can play havoc with a girl’s hair and beauty regime. The current heatwave also needs considering when it comes to both skin and hair protection. Here are some handy tips to help you stay looking your best whilst camping out in a field:

1 Salt spray

One of the best things you can do for festival hair is to regularly spritz with a sea salt spray. It will add volume and texture to hot, lifeless hair whilst still retaining a natural look. It’s easy to use and a simple spritz will give you a great wavy look with minimal effort.

2 Dry shampoo

If you’re staying at a festival for more than a couple of nights, you’re going to really wish you could wash your hair. Dry shampoo is an absolute must for de-greasing your locks and giving your roots some extra volume. This way you don’t need to worry about showering or the state of your hair. Spray dry shampoo into the roots, leave it for around 30 seconds and then rub off.

3 Headband or bandana

Not only will you look on trend and funky, tying a bandana or wearing a headband can be a lifesaver for a bad hair day. Treat yourself to a mixture of floral, plain and metallic so you can mix it up depending on your mood. Treat yourself to an indulging wash and blow dry when you return. 4 Waterproof mascara

Although the weather is glorious, you can never quite rule out the chance of rain, mud and the need for wellies. To avoid the panda-eyed look, use waterproof mascara that won’t run in the rain, or smudge in the heat and your eyes will stay looking glam for much longer.

5 Tinted lip balm

Being outside and in the heat can really dry out your lips. Make sure you stay well hydrated and carry a tinted lip balm with you to keep your lips moisturised and adding a splash of colour to your make up.

6 SPF Protection

Nothing ruins fun like a bad case of sunburn. If lots of sun is forecast, don’t forget to pack the high factor sun lotion. Also make sure your foundation contains SPF, so you not only look great but have extra protection on your face.

7 Hair protection

It’s not only your skin that needs sun protection, but you should apply it to your hair as well. Too much exposure to the sun can dry out and discolour your hair, so grab a specially formulated spray that protects the hair and keeps it shiny and hydrated. Once you get home, apply a restoring mask to give your hair a deep and replenishing treatment.
