You could go down the classic route of hiring a car and driving yourself to all the usual attractions and hotspots, or you could do something a little more fun and unique and enjoy a road trip in a classic campervan.

Campervanning with children

Going on a road trip in a campervan is especially great if you have children. They see campervans as fun playhouses on wheels, and what child doesn’t love climbing into a bunk bed up a small ladder? Your child will spend their days playing outside in the fresh air, which means you can expect them to sleep well at night.

Devon is a beautiful area of the UK and is often frequented by those looking for a camper van trip. There are some incredible sites to see across the county, whether you are looking for a beach break near Woolacombe or a trip across the wilds of Dartmoor or perhaps you are looking for Things to do in Barnstaple in the evening, you are sure to find it all on your travels across Devon. Here are some top tips for sites to look at in Devon:

  • Film locations – take a trip across Dartmoor in search of the numerous film locations that have been used in films like ‘War Horse and books such as ‘Hound of the Baskervilles.’
  • Take a tour of the South Devon Wine region and try out some samples from the award winning wines found in the county.
  • If you are looking for something a little on the strange side why not take a trip to The Big Sheep which is found in North Devon. You can find a number of different entertainments here, with horse whispering, sheep racing and duck trials amongst the most popular.
  • If you are a book lover and enjoy a good crime story then why not take part in the Agatha Christie literary trail and visit her former home along with the landscapes and places that gave her inspiration for over 20 of her incredibly popular novels.
  • If you fancy stretching your legs away from the camper van then why not travel along some of the extensive cycle ways that stretch from Barnstaple and Hatherleigh or perhaps the route that takes you along the coast from Exeter to Sidmouth and Dawlish.
