The role of the Delivery Driver would typically take products from the merchant yard directly to customers’ building sites. This can be on a multi-drop basis and typically requires a Class One or Class Two HGV license. Many of these roles are customer facing and the customer will meet the driver at site. Branch Manager
A Branch Manager is responsible for the overall management of a branch including sales, staff, stock and day to day operations. This is a role that is typically filled by someone who has a lot of experience of working in the trade counter or sales area of a builders merchants and has worked for several years in the industry.
Estimator or Trade Sales Rep
An Estimator or Trade Sales Rep is someone who can read drawings, estimate the quantities of the materials required for a particular project and go out and promote the various products within the merchants yard to Contractors and Builders. The estimator may also go out to sites and follow up quotes left with clients to obtain orders.
